Description:
X-Ray Techs are a type of radiologic technologists that use special equipment to take X-Ray images of different body parts. X-Ray Techs are responsible for protection patients from radiation exposure during X-Rays. The images that X-Ray techs capture are used by radiologists to diagnose medical conditions such as broken bones. Best thing about this career is that it pays well while requiring only 2 years of education.
Requirements
- Must be of good moral character
- Must have High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years old
Education Required:
Must complete a New York State registered dental hygiene program or an American Dental Association accredited dental hygiene program prior to being able to sit for the licensure exam. These programs are typically 2-year associate’s degree programs.

The licensure fee is $120.

$72,000 (roughly $34/hour)
Steps
- Enroll in and complete an American Registry of Radiologic technologists (ARRT) accredited radiologic technologists program (associates degree or certificate program)
- Register to take ARRT certification exam
- Complete and submit application for New York State Department of Health Licensure
